Julia Isidrez, 2026. Nottingham Contemporary will present the first international institutional solo exhibition of the Guaraní artist and ceramicist Julia Isídrez (b.1967, Paraguay), whose clay sculptures trouble and enlighten many issues that define cultural debate today – from indigeneity and identity politics to craft. Rooted in the ceramic traditions passed down through generations of women in Itá, Isídrez learned the craft from her mother Juana Marta Rodas, working with local clay and long-standing Guaraní techniques that were gradually adapted over time. In contrast to these traditional techniques, the subject matter of her works is anything but conventional: hybrid dinosaur-like figures and multi-headed spherical amphibians populate her sculptures. These fantastical creatures are chimeras, unattainable beings of Isídrez’s imagination, yet still resonant with popular traditions and folklore.

Lizi Sánchez, 2026. Lizi Sánchez was born in 1975 in Lima (Peru), and now lives and works in London. She is interested in the communicative power of language. Fracture of various communication systems and codes is a preoccupation in her work. Sánchez is interested in how different processes, contexts and intentions transform the use and meaning of language. She frequently uses material supports from the everyday environment that attract her both for their connotations and their qualities; thus brightness, malleability, translucency, or lightness

"Faunal Succession", Lucía Pizzani, 2026

Venezuelan-born, London-based artist Lucía Pizzani presents her first institutional UK exhibition at Focal Point Gallery in Southend-on-Sea. Through a series of new installations and in collaboration with artists Cecilia Bonilla, Jaime Gili, Javier Weyler and local community groups and schools, Pizzani reimagines the Essex coast through a ‘deep time’ lens, linking geological transformation with contemporary questions of climate change, migration, and social transformation.
